ABOUT ME

My name is Jonathan Pineda. I am an Introverted and passionate Graphic designer born in Chicago, IL. I am currently studying UX Design, with the intention of utilizing design and development to create interactive digital products, game designs, and programs.

I firmly believe in user-centered design and am committed to understanding the needs of my audience. Whether working on a complex web application or an interactive game, I prioritize accessibility, usability, and aesthetic balance in every project. Through my work, I aim to bridge the gap between design and development, crafting digital experiences that are as intuitive and functional as they are visually engaging.

MY RESUME

WHY GRAPHIC DESIGN?

I’m from the Great Windy City of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up, I was always curious about how things worked, especially in the digital world. My journey into creativity began in 4th grade during a computer class where I was introduced to Scratch, a beginner-friendly, block-based coding platform. It taught me the fundamentals of logic and interactivity, but more importantly, it sparked a love for making things come to life on a screen. I realized early on that I enjoyed creating, not just problem-solving.

In high school, I continued exploring technology through more computer science classes, still working with platforms like Scratch. But it was a Psychology course that unexpectedly opened a new door: Graphic Design. As part of a mental health unit, we were assigned to create an infographic using Canva. For the first time, I saw how visual storytelling could influence emotion, inform others, and promote awareness. It was more than just a school project; it felt like a purpose. I began to see design as a powerful tool for communication and social change.

When I entered college, I started out majoring in Computer Science, thinking it was the best way to bring together my skills in logic and creativity. But something was missing. As I took design electives, I discovered how much I loved the visual side of problem-solving, how colors, typography, layout, and storytelling could all work together. Graphic Design felt like the perfect blend of structure and imagination. By sophomore year, I made the decision to switch majors, and I haven’t looked back. Graphic Design is where I’ve found my voice, and it’s where I see my future.
